Hello all!

I have been looking for a new 5er since I sold my TT and I think I may have found one that looks pretty good but I cannot find hardly any information on it anywhere....

It is a 2006 North Shore by Dutchmen model# M-28BH-M5

Usually when I have googled differant manufactures in the past I find all kinds of things about them, Good and bad. This does not seem to be the case with Dutchmen. I also am having a heck of a time finding a NADA or KKBB price as this model does not come up as an option/???

I came here hoping to find something out about the Dutchmen brand in general. Good or Bad. I think the units floor plan is what I am looking for after talking to them over the phone but I cannot even seem to google the make and model to get that.

So I am going to put my trust in you folks that have helped me out many times before and see what you all think.

Please let me know if any of you have had or still have and what your thoughts are on the Dutchmen fivers.

Than you!

Jason

Thank you for the fast response!!!

It looks like they may be a little high on the price but I will go visit with them and see what comes of it.

How did you get to the NADA page?

Never mind... I figured it out. Duh.

Is the North Shore more of an entry level built camper or is it a higher end camper?

After the last two Terry campers I have had I would like to have a little higher quality camper. Something with a steal frame if possible. I am planning on pulling my boat behind what ever fiver I end up with and would like a camper that is as heavy duty as possible.

Thanks again!

Dutchmen RV was having some hard times when in 1991 when Giant Thor bought them out. Since Dutchmen kept a good portion of their management after the sale, the Dutchmen guys had a lot more of Thor's cash to play with and imnprove their products.

They immediately brought back from dead the Komfort brand...which used to be a huge selling RV here on the West Coast (for quite a few years!) where it was originally manufactured starting in 1966.

In addition to Dutchmen, they also make Coleman RV's, Aerplite, Aspen Trail, Colorado, Denali, Four Winds, Grand Junction, Infinity, Kodiak, Lakewood, Rubicon and Voltage. They also manufacture the new line of Redwood premium 5th wheels.

I believe the Dutchmen North Shore was discontinued after the 2010 model, as they show that model no more.

irv2.com has a Dutchmen RV Owners forum...and Dutchmenrvs.com as well.

I bought a Dutchman 5er new back in 2000 or 2001, so my experience may not be relevant today. Take it for what it is worth.

Our Dutchman was the biggest POS that I have ever had the misfortune of encountering. We kept it for two years and had nothing but trouble, some minor, some major (siding came off twice, two welds connecting the shackles to the axles broke freeing the axle from the frame). Customer service was terrible. The unit had a bad window that had to be replaced and it took over 3 months to get the replacement part. Just a few of the problems we had.

Finally sold the unit after we grew tired of the constant issues. I woud NEVER consider another Dutchman.

I have a 2010 Dutchman 26RL-FW no problems-nice floor plan and size for me and my DW. I have run it on several long hauls and a number of short ones. I think you can get a lemon in any make model.

We had a North Shore and loved it. I wish we still had it. Never a minutes trouble.
