I went and hooked up my toad this weekend, the tail lights worked but the turn signal/brake light on either side did not work. Using a volt meter I traced the problem to the 7 pin plug on back of the motorhome. I started tracing the wires hoping they were spliced in to the tail lights on the motorhome, apparently this is not the case because I lost the wires when they started routing back to the front of the mh. Is this a separate circuit from the tail lights on the motorhome and if so where would I look for fuses etc. I looked at the fuses in the bay in front of the drivers side front wheel and all fuses that looked like they might be part of the circuit looked to be good. Does anyone have any thoughts?

My fuses for that connector is in one of my rear basement compartments inside a small box.

My ignition switch has to be on for the turn signals and stop lights to work on the coach and the toad. I assume yours was.

You are correct, I had the ignition on and the turn signals on the coach were working but not on the toad. All my testing with volt meter was also done with the ignition on.

My coach has yellow turn signal lenses, and uses a 5 to 4 wire adapter to supply power to the plug because of that. Recently ran into the same problem you describe (both turn signals inop) and found that adapter was bad. After replacing it, everybody was happy again. Mine is located between the 7 wire plug and the chassis harness.

You failed to mention what chassis your rig is built on. The Freightliner chassis is built with a separate fuse block for the 7 wire plug and it is up to the coach manufacturer to install it, but it is normally put near the rear axle on either side due to the length of leads.

Mine has the yellow (separate) signal lights and the adaptor mentioned above. I also had no signal or brake lights and had to replace the adaptor. $12.50 at the camper store.

I want to thank everyone for their replies, with your advise I looked for some more fuse blocks and didn't find any, good news though I found the connection for the brake controller in case I ever need one. I finally went back to the main fuse panel in the bay in front of the drivers side tire and looked at the fuses again, I looked at them pretty hard this time and found a couple of fuses that looked a little iffy so I checked them for continuity and both of them were an open circuit, I replaced both fuses and all is good now. My concern now is what caused the fuses to blow, I'm guessing I have a short somewhere in the wiring on my toad, that's a project for another day though.
