I keep hearing people talk about how they hated or hate their floor plan.
What floor plans are not very good and why? The thing I hate the most about many rv's I have seen is that the bathroom or bathroom sink is open to the bedroom.
What do you or don't you like about yours?

No. We really like our floorplan a lot. We have a regular, seperate, full bathroom, just like at home.
I could never understand why anyone would buy a coach with a foorplan that they hated?

We have an open bathroom, that is a bathroom that goes from one side to the other, so the toilet is out in the open in not in a tiny closet. The bathroom can be closed off by sliding doorrs from both the front kitchen/living area as well as from the rear bedroom. Most coaches have a hallway thru the bathroom area with the toilet in a tiny separate room on one side and shower/sink on the other. We prefer our floor plan.

We love ours. Our main door is in the middle of the side (not in front of the passenger chair) and the driver's door opens so he can exit from the driver's seat. My issue with a front entry door being in front of the passenger chair is lugging every item the length of the coach... groceries...laundry...

Our first motorhome, a Fleetwood Excursion 39P, had one relatively small slideout in the living room and one in the bedroom. It was good for a starter for us, but too snug and the TV over the dash wasn't ideal.
We traded it for a Tour 40TD, which has a much more residential floor plan. The TV and fireplace are across from the living room couch and chair w/ottoman. It has two good sized closets, maybe 6' long each, plus lots of drawer space in the bedroom. There is also a lot of storage space in the kitchen. It's a very comfortable floor plan to spend lots of time in.
We're in the process of upgrading again to a Tour 42QD. It takes the best parts of the 40TD and expands on them. Where the 40TD has a front kitchen, the 42QD moves the living room forward and the kitchen back. With the long "L" shaped couch, front seats and recliner, it can seat a bunch for a gathering. Then it adds a 1/2 bath and large bath in the back. It gives up closet space for the 1/2 bath.

I can't imagine spending the money that these things cost buying a floor plan you just hate. I would think most of us would do a lot more research than that even if we had never tried to live with a particular floor plan.

Dave, you are going to get a lot of floor-plan opinions here!
I read about motorhomes for 9 yrs. before we purchased, probably really seriously the last 4 yrs. before we ordered our coach in January of '07. I like the split bath were the toilet and sink are in a separate room (ours is roomy). The mid bath (shower and sink) can be closed off from the bedroom and kitchen area which works out perfect for us. A 45 ft. coach with a bath and a half has no more room than our 42 ft. except they have an extra toilet... we both still have two sinks, a shower, etc.
I wanted the bedroom in the rear with a king sized bed with no walk-through to the bath. So, the Diamond IV floor-plan worked well for us (not made anymore). I also didn't want our refrigerator to move so it's not in the slide. I felt they are two heavy to have in a slide.
That's why Baskin Robbins has 34 flavors and RV manufacturers have 34 floor-plans to keep everybody happy!

No! Floor plan is the center piece of our plan before we buy a coach. Happy Trails, Rooster

Floor plans are a personal thing, what I find to be the perfect floorplan..you may hate.
But the one constant dislike floorplan thing as far as I'm concerned...is the RV manufacturers that design floor plans that restrict your access to the bathroom, cupboards and kitchen/refrigerator when the slideouts are in for travel. What a pain in the Glutimus Maximus!
