Where to get oil changed?

I have found the GM dealers are just as competitve as anybody and I figure they know what they are doing.

Gemstone,
I was not aware that you could get a 2011 duramax pickup without exhaust brake??

Also what about the "wait to start light". I just bought a new 2011 Chevy and it doesn't have one, dealer said you don't have to wait to start anymore on the Duramax.

And all 2011 chevy duramax's have the exhaust brake I believe.

I don't have a Duramax but....

You might want to check your owners manual....I think 'salesman' is wrong.

Your Dmax does have the wait before start. Two things that will help your diesel start. Wait for the glow plugs (wait before start) and a warm engine. They will start when cold and if cranked enough even if you do not wait for the glow plugs. But just more wear and tear on the battery and starter. A starter on a Dmax is many $$$. So my advice is wait before you start and use the block heater when it is cold. As for oil changes I always change the first time at 500 miles on any new engine then go with manufacture recommendation after that.

I just got my 2011 duramax in March and I have read the manual cover to cover several times, I also frequent several duramax forums (lost of great info to be found there). Aside from the stuff others have already mentioned, don't forget to top off the DEF every couple thousand miles. If you ever decide you need it, you chord for you block heater is zip tied near the second battery and fuel filter in your passenger side wheel well. I use mine here in WI when the temps are going to be in the 20's at night. I changed my oil and allison spin on filter for the first time at 1k and then I plan to use the DIC for oil changes and the recommended interval for everything else (I use mobile delvac super 1300 by the way). Feel free to PM me with any questions you might have

If I spent $50K for a truck I'd know the in's and out's and how it operates before purchasing.

Just take your time and read the manual, no big hurry to doing anything yet.
