Will be purchasing a 2 year old fifth wheel this weekend and the only thing I found to fix is a frozen up rooftop A/C fan motor. In case it can't be brought back to life where is the best place to find one. I had to cahnge this motor on my last fifth wheel and found the motor on Ebay, none there now. Thanks for the help. Tim

Try Electric Motor Warehouse . They have plenty but I don't know the price range you are looking for or the model of the motor.

Same thing happens to my AC every winter ~ the motors shaft rusts in place. Go up on the roof and force the fan to turn. After that it will run fine.

While I was thoroughly checking out the trailer today, I went on the roof and pulled off the cowling. Could only get it to turn with some force. Would not turn free enough to run.
I remember last time that this job was a real pain.

What brand A/C?

Any identification on the motor?

It could just be a bearing (if it is indeed bearinged not just bushed).

I replaced a bad bearing on my Carrier A/C condenser fan last week-- cost of bearing $7.65.

Force it to turn with some vise-grips then add a little oil and keep working it. I know that sounds terrible but it's just the way they are. They will go for many years this way.
You can get a new motor assembly on Ebay for $128 but next spring you'll be in the same boat and it just isn't necessary.

MSC, WW Grainger, McMaster Carr, Sid Harvey just to name a few. I agree you may be able to loosen it up and nurse it through for a while. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't. Get some good lube in it and see how it goes. If it has shaft play you can feel ( up and down, not end play) it may be best to change it. When the air gap goes between the rotor and the stator, it's used up. Time for new bushing/bearing, or new motor.

I work at a wholesaler that sells hundreds of different motors. We are like a Graingers and McMaster Carr.
I also did RV servicing for many years and I can tell you that the motor you will need will possibly not be available from me or the other places.
The motors in some RV roof-airs have special threads in the outside case that match up to the motor mount where the mounting screws go.
It is these special mounting holes you won't find in a non OEM motor.
I have always needed to go to the RV roof-air manufacturer or their authorized service center for the motors.

When you get ready to oil it, go to a automotive parts house or a sewing machine dealer & get some silicon oil.
