The two black boxes, in the pic above, are located on the front, passenger side of the engine. They both should have two hoses coming from the top but the one on the left is missing a hose.

Any ideas on where this missing hose goes to?

Thanks!

Those look like evaporation canisters to me. I believe their hooked into the fuel system, not sure if one has a vent hose thou.

You'll need a chassis manual and look up the fuel system. Might be able to find one on a google search.

If they are part of the emissions system, there may be a hose routing sticker under the hood. All the vehicles I own have this sticker. Also, you may be able to google "emission hose routing" for you particular engine. Hope this helps. take care.

Those are your emissions cannister filters. There may not be a hose for that one. Look and see if there is a filter in the end? It needs to draw in fresh air into the system.

Shayne:
I did look at my set up and it's the same two tanks connect with short hose, and the other stub which is bare at your picture. That one stub has a mushroom shaped plug on it my thinking is that it is some kind of breating plug.I looked it up in the service manual and it also shows as a plug but no description, maybe an trip to an auto wrecker with lots of superduty trucks might be successful. Good luck in your hunt,
Helgi.
