My Buddy that I camp with at Talladega had a tire blow out coming the the race last year. Not knowing the condition of the other three tires he had all four replaces with Goodyear tires. This trailer was towed home and stored until this year. Well on his way from Mississippi another tire let go, the entire tread come off of it. Needless to say he was not a happy camper with Goodyear.

Wonder how fast he was travelling when the tire blew. Did he pretend to be driving in NASCAR race?
Wonder how many are towing well above 60 Mph when these tires blow?

Not had the unfortunate experience yet but I am installing Michelin XPS rib before our first trip this year. Rest assured I never tow over 60 mph as you are only asking for trouble.

Posted 2 complaints on the NHTSA website today in regards to Goodyear Marathon 235/80R16.
One Out-of-Round and one for Cord Separation.

If everyone who has a problem will do the same, maybe we can get some assistance with this problem.

Well my friend after you put the XPS Ribs on you can continue to tow at 60 mph if you wish to save fuel, but you don't need to limit yourself to that speed with the Ribs. They are speed rated much higher than ST tires.
I have over 12K miles on my current set of Ribs which are 2.5 years old and have run them at 65-70 mph for a high percentage of the total miles towed on the Interstates. and they still look as good as the day I bought them.

Good. And have you saved the evidence for analysis? That could help.

There's 77 complaints in re GY Marathon tires.

IMO - NHTSA isn't going to do zip.
Trailer tires are much too small of a niche market to show meaningful complaint numbers.

After GY lost the lawsuit - tires were made in the USA at the time -
why would they (GY) then have the tires mfg in China?
No doubt to improve the quality (LOL!) . . . .
or remove some/all of the liability?

~

The "assistance" is incredibly simple, and a slam dunk "DIY" -
Do yourself a favor: purchase quality LT tires.
