I can understand you frustration and issues that you have had, but you bought a first year model from a new start up company which most of us would expect potential issues with, second hand and I couldn't find any warranty info for the 2010 models, but the Earthbound website clearly states that the current warranty info only applies to models built after 2-1-2011 and that the warranty is non-transferable. This is just like the Hyundai 10yr/100K warranty that only applies to the original owner. This limited warranty should have been apparant when the dealer offered you a 90 warranty.

For the leak, well that happens and we don't know how far beyond the 90 day warranty this was.

The A/C issue seems to have been under rated, but that happens and my trailer experienced the same thing one summer and I found out it was not installed with the proper number of vents that the manufacturer recommended and I had to fix that by adding more vents for better air distribution. It looks like now it comes with a 15K A/C and typically all warranties only cover defects which installing insufficient cooling IMO is does not really fall into that category.

The one item that might be considered a warranty item would be the paint on the front, but w/o know the details it's hard to make any real assessment. I bought my trailer new and while it only had a 1 year warranty my front molded cap cracked within 5 mos of me purchasing it and it was replaced under warranty. My trailer was built in June 2006 and sat on the dealer's lot until Oct 2007 (16mos) w/o front cap issues, but within 5 mos of me purchasing it, it cracked.

I agree somewhat that Earthbound might not have done the best job they could, but at what point do they go by what I think was probably clearly stated on the terms of the warranty and I'm not sure I would call that "questionable business practices" ... maybe not "stellar business practice", but it is what it is in the end.

That is indeed a shame, because the overall concept of Earthbound seems very attractive.

YOWSA! For grins, I just looked up pricing on Earthbound units. Yikes!

I think I would have installed a 2nd 13.5 roof AC and seen if Earthbound would split the cost of a paint job for the faded panel. The good news is that with the composite walls that Earthbound has, you'll never have to worry about the trailer being damaged by leaking! You certainly have the right to post truthful negative reviews about Earthbounds issues. You and the prior ownner of that trailer were aparently innocent "guinea pigs" in Earthbounds new product testing program!

How so?

They said the same thing about fiberglass when it came out. But, I've personally seen the horrific problems that can & do occur with fiberglass.

According to the hype, owners of Earthbound trailers shouldn't have to worry about any construction issues. It's pretty obvious that the hype isn't reality.

A 2010 and it was already traded and you got it used.Makes me wonder why the other owners got rid of it so fast. And they had the 3 year bumper to bumper even.

I have always wondeered how the darker color trailers cool. Full body paint looks nice but color other than white is going to add heat to a trailer.

I always wondered about the same thing. I guess now we know.

Making the choice to buy a used vs new unit was I'm sure based on the difference of price between new and used. You probably saved tens of thousands in up front costs. Just consider these small offsets against those savings and be happy.

We've never had a problem cooling much larger units with a 13.5k ac. Must be some pretty poor insulation there! We actually considered an Earthbound after seeing them at the past RV show in our area. Price and small size steered us in a different direction. Reading this, I'm glad we did. Funny thing is, the owner of the company was sitting in the trailer answering questions when we were in it. Seemed like a real nice guy. Told us he used to own Dutchman and wanted to do something different this time around. If you have a RV show coming to town, maybe he'll be there shaking hands and you can corner him personally!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune with the trailer and the trouble you've had with the manufacture.

Maybe some of the people that are always preaching "buy used" can now understand how the "bugs" are not always worked out on a used trailer when you buy one. Sometimes the "bugs" are just transferred with the sale.

I have read the thread of the gentleman that had problems with his Earthbound travel trailer, and some of the responses to his delima. The manufacturer cannot be fully blamed regarding warranty work (espacially on a previously owned unit). Also, we do not know why the unit was for resale. It could have been a bank repo. It appears that the dealer should have been more responsive to assist the owner in resolving his issues and assisting him in working with Earthbound on finding a acceptable resolution to his problems. The Dealer should have also explained that the manufacturer's 3 year warranty was not transferrable. (This is the reason that I got out of boating (Very Poor dealer support)). My wife and I purchased an Earthbound in January at our local RV show. There where a few defects not attributable to the manufacture. The damage was done post shipment from the Earthbound factory. In discussing the issues with our dealer and Earthbound we were able to have them all resolved. Yes, it took some coordination between myself, my dealer and Earthbound, but between Earthbound and the dealer all was resolved. As for Earthbound support, the first trip we took in our RV, we could not get hot water. I contacted my dealer and he recommended that I call Earthbound directly and gave me representative's phone number (it was a weekend). I called him and within 30 minutes he had another gentleman call me back and we were able to resolve the problem in a few minutes. I have been very satisfied with the quality of the RV. With respect to actual manufacturer warranty work that needed to be performed, they were all very minor things, nothing more than what you would expect on a new car.
