We are planning a trip to the midwest from California. We have a 36' pusher (400 hp) and a toad. Any info on I 70 thru Colorado would be appreciated. Also, particularly beautiful areas en route would be good. Thanx in advance.

The I-70 drive starting from I-15 in Utah all the way across Utah, and across Colorado through Denver is an awesome drive. Very Senic the whole way. With 400 hp will not be any problems at all.

I suggest a stop in Vail. Agreat village to see. Reminds me of the Austrian Amps. Westayed in Avon, just west of Vail in the parking lot of Home Depo. They share the same lot with Wall Mart. We called Wall Mary and they said you could not part here, HOwever you were aloud. To part at Home Depo. We talked to the store manager and they welcome RV'S. We then spent time in Vail and had a nice dinner.

Stop and spend the night at Tiger Run RV park just north of Breckenridge,CO. Lots of places to eat, shop and just enjoy the day. Take the FROG up to the top of Hosier pass. Run over to Leadville where Doc. Holiday died. Stop by the 10 Mountain Divisions memorial outside of old Camp Hale. Better than Vail or Aspen IMHO.

I see you are leaving from California so I will give you a few suggestions that actually start in Utah getting off at Rt 191 exit 182 head south to Moab passing Arches NP and Canyonlands then take Rt128 that follows the Colorado River with fantastic views -- 128 will flow back to I-70and take you into Colorado.

When you enter Colorado you could jump off before Grand Junction and visit Colorado NM then following the Colorado again to Glenwood Springs -- Hot Springs -- more Colorado River and if you continue on I-70 -- with the often called most beautiful interstate in the US -- with over and under roads along the Colorado River. if you are really up for the most photographed spot in Colorado you could head to Aspen and visit Maroon Bells -- one of the great hikes/views in Colorado.

Now heading back east on I-70 you could continue on through Vail or slip off at Minturn on Rt 24 past camp Hale and over to Leadville and Turquoise Lake -- if it's dinner time you could catch a steak at Quincy's on Main Street -- Then on Rt 91 back to I-70 you could get right back off to visit Breckenridge. Then back on I-70 through the tunnel.

On the east side Exit at exit 244 taking Rt 6 through the tunnels along Clear Creek into Golden -- where you could spend the night in Golden's Clear Creek CG -- right in town, just down the street from Coors.

Then out of Golden Rt 58 to I-70 to route 36 all the way to Indianapolis -- parallel's I-70 just much more scenic. Just before Rt 36 leaves Colorado you can catch a night a Bonny Lake Reservoir -- nice spot just before you leave Colorado north of I-70 and south of Rt 36.

Now that will get you through Colorado in about a week or two, Lots to see and do along your route --

Hope this is of some help.
