I was thinking a Fusion could be towed four down which would do away with the tow dolly. It would be much easier if you could tow four down instead of messing with the dolly. Check it out and let us know what you find......Arnold

I thought the chains went to the motor home in case the tow bar broke. This was the case on the one I had and got rid of.

He's talking about the security chains on the dolly carriage. If you can't get them around the axle it should be OK to remove a plastic cover to reveal some metal structure to wrap them around. The bottom plastic is really there to just cut wind resistance, but by all means find some place or a good shop could probably fab some bolts or something up for you.

I have a 2011 Fusion and plan to tow it on a dolly, even though it can be towed 4 down. I would assume that you could attach the chains to the suspension. I have not checked it out as yet, I know there is a lot of plastic under the car but there should not be any associated with the suspension!

I tow my Toyota Matrix on a dolly and it is secured to the dolly with the wheel tiedown straps. Haven't had a problem with this method yet.
