Has been years since my last visit, looking for a down to earth place that will not break the bank.

One suggestion is to follow the advise of Tom Fitzmorris, a local food quide. See his website NOmenu.com

It's not labled as "Cajun" but Mothers is a good stop.

Mulates is labled as Cajun but not on my top 10.

Deanies is one of my favorites. There is one on Lake Ave in Kenner and another in the French Quarter. Great food and prices. Look up their menu on the internet. Don't be fooled by the half seafood platter. It will feed 3 people easily!

Mulates in Breaux Bridge is MUCH MUCH better, and cheaper too.

Also, go online and look for any coupons or specials going on during your visit. We did and saved a bungle on some tours.

Thanks all: wife also asked about a place that boils mud bugs, shrimp, tators and corn, and then dumps it out on a table to eat. We will be driving from Pensacola to the Big Easy.
