Greetings everyone,
After reading the posts on this camping we decided to go there for our vacations this summer. Everyone seems to enjoy the place but I was wondering if the quiet hours (10 pm to 8 am) were really quiet. Since the park allows alcohol and has fire pits (which doesn't seem to be the standard in state campgrounds) I was wondering if it attracks a younger and louder crowd.
Thanks.

It's been a couple of years, since we've been but if memory serves correctly, it was a very quit camp ground, Even during the day. The sites are large and very nicely spaced.
Hope this helps

Just don't pick a site that is on the edge of the park near the road. The only time we've ever had a problem with any VA state park was a Memorial Day weekend, and the folks were kicked out the next day.
First Landing looks like a great place for a PUP.

We live here so don't camp there but do walk the beach and back thru the campgrounds. Our Golden Retriever really likes it.

First Landing is truly one of the top state parks in the Mid Atlantic. Get a site in the dunes and there will be no one close enough to bother you. First landing is a quiet place. It is no rowdier than any other state parka

We live in Virginia Beach and camp there when we can. Reserve a spot, or you will not camp there in the summertime.

Have not been to this park but I don't think any VA st parks permit alcohol. Maybe someone else can comment.

The sites are nicely spaced apart. I have had one neighbor there that at 6am on a Sunday morning, was breaking camp and decided as he worked that it would be great to have his music turned up nice and loud. We had a tent camper at the time in the next space over, and my wife was still asleep. I asked nicely if he could turn it down, and he did and that was that.
The Va park system is on a first come first serve basis. There are a few sites that back right up against the fence that separates the park from the local highway, and the highway is noisy. Your best chance NOT to get one of these sites is to know the camp ground layout, to get there before the weekend starts, and NOT to camp over the 3 popular summer holidays. If you can do that, you will have a good site.

I have camp hosted in VA state parks and they do not allow open use of alcohol, but it can be consumed in your camper (and in your campsite if done discreetly), but in most cases folks who get out of hand are usually dealt with rather quickly by the Park Rangers.

We'll be arriving on the first Tuesday of August. Is there a civic holiday in August in VA?
Thanks everyone again.
