If you had to choose between Savannah and Charleston, which would you choose to spend a few days? Trying to decide!

I will disagree, Charleston has much more to see than Savannah (Done both many times). Try Hyman's Seafood for out of this world good food in Charleston.

Check the Town Squares of Savannah. We visited Savannah a few years back and there is so much history about the area that I'm sure you will enjoy it. Also there are many fine dining establishments in and around the area. If it were our choice between Savannah and Charleston, Savannah wins hands down.

We would choose Charleston. It had a lot more that we were interested in seeing. Also, there are more varied things to do and see IMHO. We really couldn't find a lot to do in Savannah besides touring the homes and taking the tour of town. We did enjoy seeing it, but ran out of things to do. Maybe we didn't have enough information on the place before we went. We always hear people say they love going there, but when we ask them what they did there, they say look at the homes and eat.(nothing wrong with that) but we like to do more sight seeing and there was at least a weeks worth in Charleston.

I vote for Savannaha. Spent some time down there (not camping at the time) and really enjoyed the downtown and river front areas. Enjoyed Tybee Island too.

Really depends on your likes and dislikes. For history, I'd pick Charleston. Have been to both numerous times and have found the walking tours of Charleston superior to those offered in Savannah. For fun, I'd pick Savannah. By that I mean hopping from tavern to tavern, people watching and just enjoying the sites. Savannah is more compact - easier to walk and there is a free trolley on the waterfront. We love both cities. We were in Charleston 2 weeks ago and are planning our next trip to Savannah as I type this! If you would like to post more about yourselves I could give you a better idea of what you might enjoy more. Either way, you can't lose IMHO.

I would go to Hunting Island, just outside of Beaufort, SC, about halfway between the two. Then, I would do Charleston for a day and Savannah for a day. Then, when you make your next trip, you will be able to determine which one you REALLY want to do.
Then again, I LOVE Hunting Island. Beaufort is a very small city, but has a lot of the architecture, food, etc. that both cities have.

We like Tybee Island (20mi. from Savannah) if you go before the summer rush. We just got back. We went mid march, now I can hardly wait until next year.
