We would like to take the grand-daughter to see a beach for the first time. Would any of you might reccommend a nice RV Resort around Destin or Pensacola that is on the beach, that can handle a 43 ft Motor-home?

Topsail Hill State Park if you are looking for a resort like atmosphere with FHU.

Henderson Beach State Park if you just want to be near the water no FHU.

Henderson State Park in Destin is beautiful and has accommodations for up to 45' motorhomes. Also, Camping on the Gulf in Destin is nice and you can practically park on the beach. Destin is just gorgeous!

Grayton Beach State Park has full hook ups now in the new section, they have 10 sites listed as 40 ft but none over that. Topsail started out life as a luxury private park and now is owned by the state, it is very nice and even has cable TV. The beach at Topsail is a long walk or you can ride the free tram. Henderson does not have FHU

I would never go to Camping on the Gulf, too old school and tight for me.

My vote would go to TopSail. It also has a swimming pool but with the Jeep toad, you can go a 1/2 mile or so out of Topsail on 30A and park right on the beach at a public beach or you can ride the tram to the beach at TopSail.
I have been to Camping on the Gulf one time and will never go again.

there is nothing wrong with FT. Pickens, but the tides on that whole coast can be "not" swimming, frolic friendly IMO.what/when/how long, thats the main ?
Now if i were a bit longer term,I would go to Cedar Pines CG in MILTON,FL.
not real fancy, but reasonable homey nice folks, nice pool, nearby restaurants nice old ice cream stand too, no real "tourist traps" and 20 minutes to Navarre Beach, and the north side island beach (on the left after you cross the bridge)is very calm and kid friendly.

EDIT:
PS Any review you find on the web is probably outdated it was recently purchased, the new owners are nice.

http://classic.mapquest.com/maps?city=Pe........0.3333&longitude=-87.137497&geocode=CITY

The above map is useful to our discussion. Ft Pickens is at the green area to the left of Pensacola Beach. Naverre Beach is on the same barrier island and are connected by road. Pensacola Beach has things to do that I would classify as kid friendly, and is a few miles away from The Pensacola NAS flight museum.

I have never noticed any particular problem with the Beach at Pickens, but Navarre is a short beautiful drive away. Navarre has a parking area for the beach with a nice restaurant. Of course, Pensacola Beach has the same, but on a larger scale.
