No I've never heard of that idea. Just kidding. It has been discussed here many, many times. Do a search on Montana LLC. You'll have enough reading material to keep you busy for quite awhile.

Indeed lots of threads about it. Be aware that Colorado is "going after" Montana Corporations in order to pull in more tax money. If you are discovered owning a Montana Corp and living in Colorado, you pay back taxes and fines. Check into what NE may be doing.

Why pay for anything? Just let the rest of us pay for you.

If you are going full time, you can do what ever you want. If you maintain residence in another state, its gets tricky.

If it is done legally, why would you call it cheating and stealing?
I would call it using the laws of the land to my advantage.

Your question says it all. "to Avoid the Sales Tax" is what the other states are going after. People who reside in a state and then set up an LLc to avoid the sales tax in the state where they reside. Is is Legal not if it is set up to avoid sales tax. If you full time and need a place to hang your hat Montana may be a good choice. And then you may take all the advantage of what Montana offers.
