Hi all,
We are in Bandera, Tx and are looking to visit The Alamo and Riverwalk in San Antonio. Can anyone tell me a good route to get near there and where we could safely park my dually pickup? I have heard that some of the paid parking spots are very tight and not good for the wide pickup. Any advice is appreciated.

Just due east of the Alamo is a paid parking lot that has plenty of room. It is less than 2 blocks to the Alamo and across the street is the riverwalk. It cost me 10 bucks to park my dually there about 5 months ago.

Take Hwy 46 east toward Boerne. At 46 and I-10 Take I-10 East(right)from 46. When you get close to town( inside 410) stay to the left take I-35 North. Then stay to the right. Take I-37 south(right) then first exit should be the exit for the alamo.
There is a large shoping mall on the right. There should be a large parking lot on the other side of the mall. Turn right at the first street the parking lot should be on the right.

Believe it or not, right outside the walls of The Alamo, there is on-street metered parking, right across the street from the theater that shows the movie about the story of The Alamo. The street widens at that point and there is a spot that is almost a parking spot and a half wide. Two hour parking. Cheap. It worked for me.
