I just took a gamble and bought a battery desulfator for $30.99 - I have an older marine battery (bought 5 or so years ago for an electric trolling motor, but, shortly after sold the canoe and never bought a new boat) and its been sitting. Fluids look good, tried to charge it, but, it won't hold. Figured I would try this route for s#!+s and giggles.
Of course, if this battery is too far gone, I can try the gadget on my fivers battery. I kinda forgot about removing it when I winterized it in November. I'm sure it's drained - hopefully not frozen...

Probably a desulfator. Think the batteries are way past that.

I've never used one myself, but about 4 years ago, I purchased a used battery for a pickup I had. The battery in it was shot, it had gone dead over the winter, and by the time I decided to start the pickup, it had been several months setting dead. When I went to purchase this battery, the guy was telling me about the desulfation process. I was a tad skeptical but the price was sure right, only $19.95. Took it home, hooked it up, and figured I'd be happy if it lasted a couple of months.
I just junked the pickup end of last year, and the battery was still humping right along with no problems. Of course, I did take better care of it, too.
Hopefully it will work, if the guy was telling me right, my experiences say you may be in good shape.

My Vector 1095A has a desulfation feature that works very well.
