I will be arriving at Yuma, Az. and have heard of BLM Land used for booning somewhere near Oglesby Road. Does anyone know about this spot and how to get there. I think it is off I-8 but not sure which turn off to take.
Also I need to take on water. Any idea a good place to get H2o? I will be arriving via Hwy 95 south. Thanks for suggestions.

Take a look at this site. I think it is the area you mean. Ogilby Road is in California.

Hobby,

Isn't the land at 186 Indian Reservation, not BLM land? The maps I have say so anyway. Are the rules different for camping on the reservation?

There is BLM and Indian reservation camping all around Yuma.

If you go thru Quartzsite, water and dump everywhere there,....BLM camping too

If you are coming down US95, you can folloow it to I8 in Yuma. The Ogilby exit is the third one going east into California, about 10 - 20 miles (I didn't look it up.) Best bet is to go north into BLM land. The west side of Ogilby is a state recreation area, I think. If you go north for several miles, you will come to sidewinder road. Turn back east on it and you will come to some spots that looked good to me though I haven't had a chance to stay there yet.

If you go west on I8 out of Yuma into California you can get off at the Mexico exit, Route 186. There is also a casino there. Route 186 is only about 15 miles west of Yuma. Camping just north of the exit and also camping south about a mile down the road. The casino is always an option too.

We just left a nice Ogilby location. W. on I8.... past Pilot Knob ( you can get water there ) turn right on Ogilby.... go over train tracks ( heading N)
Go past AMerican Girl Mine that road is very rough).... you will then see rigs scattered in many areas.
If you continue on further you will come to the Gold Rock Ranch on the left... you can dump and take on water there also. ( plus laundry)

going East on I8 you will start to see the dunes. You will pass Gordon's Well Exit slow down and soon after you will see a rest stop on your left (between the 8W & 8E). There is water at that rest stop. If you miss that rest stop, get off on the next exit Gray's Well and turn around.
