Worked 40 years for Canadian Pacific Railway and after getting golden handshake have been working 5 years at local golf course. Probably will never get to do the fultime thing but hope to spend more time in AZ during winter months.

Started building houses when I was 19. At 28 started working at a county jail. Put in 10 years there (5 of it running the jail and county 911 center) before getting a state job at the prison down the road, same retirement system so those first 10 years count. I owe the state about 20 years and 1 month before they'll let me out. I'll have about 32 years in the field when that day comes. Will also have 42 years in as a volunteer firefighter, get a meager pension for that too. In the mean time, going to work on getting everything we have paid off, house included over the next 5 or 6 years. Woman and I hope to have our first truck and TC by next spring to start weekend explorations. Until then I'll be reading forums learning and dreaming.

Retired at 50, worked 30 years at Caterpillar Tractor Co. Aurora Illinois. Actually 26 years as 4 were spent working for Uncle Sam. Had a friend who got his 30 in, and decided to work one more year to pay for a new Motor home. Then he and his wife were going to "see the country" He died of Cancer about 8 months into his one more year. That gave me the incentive to go ASAP!
