I've read some reviews on the use of after market awning locks on manual awnings. But, haven't seen much on the use of the awning locks on electric awnings.

What are your thoughts???

If the electric awning didn't have a sensor to tell if it was locked, it could be a pretty significant problem if you tried to extend it while it was locked.

Seven yrs towing in all sorts of conditions with an electric awning and I never had a problem. Besides, most of the aftermarket locks that I have seen, won't fit an electric awning. If a lock was important, I would expect it to be built into the electric awning design.

My coach has Girard electric awnings. The wind sensor will keep the awning in place while traveling.

From what I have sean and herd it is not the arms on avning failing but the loking mekanisem in roler so I wood think an electric avning just as likly to unravel when traveling as a manual

What can it hurt? We have a little sign we made that hangs over the button to remind us about the lock.

The electrics are direct drive off the motor. They won't unwind or freewheel like a manual awning can.

The only thing that is holding the awning up is the fabric. So if the fabric tears the arms will fall.
