I already have the basic vehicle -- a '93 Ford E150 conversion (party) van bought used a few years back. The interior furniture had already been removed before I bought it except for some side window shades that are in pretty poor shape.

As a start, I want some fairly minor modifications made. Some of these involve no-see-um zippered screen doors for inside the side and rear vehice doors (easiy removed, if possible) and some removeable no-see-um screens for the driver and passenger side windows along with some smaller ones for the air vents of the three rear side windows.

I googled for converting vans, but didn't come up with any hits for anyone who would do modifications to already existing vehicles. I live in east central Illinois in Champaign and am wondering if anyone knows of places, whether local or not, who do this kind of work? If you do and can provide me with the contact information, I'd be very gratefu. Thanks.

I am a little confused as your thread indicates you want to 'DIY' it but then ask if anybody knows anybody who will do it For you.

I would just acquire enough no see um screening to cover all the proposed areas, and use magnets and/or velcro to seal them.

But if the little buggers really want in, they will find ways.

I can suggest Robert Morehead Designs. www.moreheaddesignlab.com (I think) but I don't know where he or you are located.

For an easy start to modifying the interior, see my van at www.cheaprvliving.com. Go to the tab "Easy conversion" on the home page.

The cheapest way to do bug screening is to buy around three yards of mosquito netting and four or more magnets. Just drape the netting over the top of the van at the front doors and secure it with magnets at the bottom of the windows.

The easiest way for the rear is to buy a double bed mosquito net and hang it from the top corners. Works well and slipping in and out of the bottom probably lets fewer bugs in than opening doors.

Sorry about the confusion with respect to "diy" but due to what I'd like done, I need someone else to do the work (like sewing, etc).

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give it some thought.

And "Bug Barrier". One or the other should have screens to fit the cab side windows.

Another question from the peanut gallery.... If you actually mean the 'DIY' part of the title literally, what skills and tools do you have yourself, or are willing to buy / learn? Plumbing? 12V wiring? 120V wiring? Rough carpentry? Finish carpentry? Do you have a place to work, and the time?

Threads here like "Step one, bought the van" contain a wealth of info, and give you an idea of what's involved.

I'll second the Robert Morehead suggestion, tho' he's here locally so maybe of limited use. You can get some floorplan ideas from the Sportsmobile web site.
