This has been a bad year for me. My Kwikee steps have been acting up and I didn't realize they were still out when I pulled into my storage bay. That 8x8 post was stronger than my steps!.I have Kwikee 40 series but I think 32 would work as ok if I can't find the 40 series.
My concern is whether I can splice into the new step's module with my existing 1995 wiring? I compared the online manual of the new ones and I have the same color coded wiring in my manual, except for a manual overide switch on the new ones. Just wondering if anyone replaced their old steps with new ones and had any wiring issues? Thanks.

I changed out my steps and the only problem I had was that I had to also change out the magnetic switch on the door. Can't remember which one I had, whether it was normally open or normally closed, but it was the opposite of what the new steps required. Other than that I just removed the four bolts, dropped the old steps, and put the new ones in place on the same bolts.

As rgatijnet1 said
Be sure to install the magnetic door control that came with the new steps. If it the steps come out when you close the door instead of closing, reverse the wires on the switch.

I have no idea how much damage you actually did to your steps, but I did a similar thing to mine last year. I bent them enough so that they would not retract. I was able to remove the steps and remove the motor and control module. I then took the steps to a welding shop (the modern version of the town blacksmith). For much less than the cost of new steps, he was able to straighten and align the steps so that they now work just fine.
Just a thought. Good luck!

Mine got just abit bent. Used a 4 foot steel bar to straighten. Took longer to get the bar and put it back.
There's bent...then there's BENT. I guess mine was easy.
Kwikee, at least in my case, seems to make a durable product. Can't even begin to think how many times they've opened and closed in 9 years.......
I just spray silicone on all the moving parts about 3 times a year.
((Edited to say: When extending or retracting, the step assembly makes alot ot (momentary) noise. Train yourself to listen for it, and you'll never have the problem the OP had.))

Tim sorry to hear about what happened. I'm not going to comment because what I was going to say was said! But I would try to have them rebuilt like musicman's post stated it will save you $$$! Good Luck, John

Mine was simply worn out. All of the hing points were loose but still functional. I found a one at my RV dealer that was taken off of a new unit. It was slightly bent, but was only $40. I used a big steel bar to straighten it and works just like new. I was able to sell the control module and motor from the old one for more than $40. It turned out to be a free upgrade.
