JJ, you're right. My arm(s) not too big as to muscle and cross-section. Not long enough at times either. Major design flaw. But, at 78, it's too late to complain, I guess.

Thanks so much for all the replies. DH has read the thread and says these suggestions sound good. We may end up trying them all. The toilet in this unit does not sit directly above the toilet. There are actually two "bends" (we think the can may be stuck in the second one) and then a straight pipe that extends approximately 5 feet across to the opposite side of the camper then into the tank. DH says he thinks he will try removing the toilet and "reaching" to the 2nd turn. We are actually not sure where it is located.
We had fortunately already dumped the tank before the can was dropped. I was in the process of filling the tank to flush any left-over "stuff" when it fell. We tried flushing the tank a couple of times to force it on through with no success.
Anyway, we will not be able to resume this search until this weekend as the camper is currently located on our "permanent" lot approximately an hour away. We decided not to move the camper from this location until the object is removed. I will post an update on Monday. Wish us luck!
Thanks again for all your suggestions.

A mild acid or other chemicals will dissolve the aluminum can. Do a google search on different ways to dissolve an aluminum can.

Try a vacuum cleaner hose. If yours isn't long enough, borrow a neighbors, add the 2 together and suck it out. Don't be too afraid of what may be in the pipes, remember, it all gets washed awy with water, and you can use lots of bleach to clean up. I would try this before I tore it all apart. Of course, if it has gone all the way into the tank, that's have another problem. Just curious, what kind of can is this? Maybe a Pringles can?
Good luck.

Note to others: Toilet brush works great to hold the toilet open and won't fall in unless you push it in.

Well.....we have scored a victory! The can which was can of hair mousse, actually an empty can. The can was very light since it was empty and it was in fact in the "turn" of the pipe. The shop vac would not retrieve it. We discovered where it was by removing the toilet and running a short piece of rubber hose into the pipe, where we cold feel and hear the can hitting the sides of the pipe. We were at a loss as to how to proceed since our arms were too short to reach it and since it was round, it was difficult to find anything that would grasp it. Finally DH filled the pipe/tank with the water hose to the top....guess what finally floated to the top.....Well, maybe you don't actually want to guess. Yep...there it was. Maybe Tresemme Mousse would like us to make a commercial for them.
Thank goodness we were able to retrieve it.
Thanks again for all your suggestions.
