I haven't turned off the battery switches in 3 years except to test that they work. During the winter my coach sits for four weeks at a time with a shore line to an outside 30Amp receptacle.

Once a month I disconnect and take the coach for about 50 miles to refresh lubrication at the seals and heat off any condensed water. House batteries are always topped off by the shore line.

Once I went 5 weeks before taking it out, the solar panel was covered with snow, and the coach batteries were dead. Since then I added a Trik-L-Start 12VDC charger connected to the house batteries and the chassis batteries stay up.

If I had to store it over the winter without a shore line I'd probably remove the batteries, but that's a last resort. I think it's important to drive the coach at least once a month. That's the advice from CAT.

Haven't there been posts about the two way battery isolators relay contacts sticking.... I wonder whether they stuck in the "connect" position and nobody noticed.

I have a wee battery level indicator on my chassis, and need to keep a close eye on it when boondocking just to make sure that it is not going down.
