I do like the new interiors on the Rams, but the back seat doesn't have the room the GM and Ford trucks do. I'm not sure why the seat is shaped like it is, but it does need to be updated for more comfort for older children and adults.

You need to clarify what truck you are referring to. The back seat in the Mega Cab Ram has no equal from Ford or GM. And the full crew cab in the Ram HD pickups also has quite a bit of room. I am assuming you are referring to the Quad cab model which is now only available in the Ram 1500s. In that case you should be comparing that back seat to the extended cab Ford and GM trucks. I have sat in the back seat of both a Quad Cab Ram, and a GM extended cab, and the Quad Cab had a bit more room for my 285 lb. body.

I traded a Chevy CC in for sig. Ram and it has every bit the room the Chevy did in the back. I've had wife, daughter and SIL in the backseat and no one said anything about being uncomfortable or there not being enough room. I've also had two granddaughers in the back with my two boxers, and again, room to spare....don't exactly understand what Ram you looked at. I like the center drop down in case you only have two adults sitting in the back, but again, I've set in the center of the back seat and it's as comfortable as the rest of the back seat..it's even heated, when needed...I love it.

Agreed, the Dodge has an awesome interior. If they would get the weight ratings up it would be perfect.

Rick: Is it possible that Dodge's weight ratings might just be closer to real-life, and safer ratings?

Seems like Dodge has had ample opportunity to match the other P.U. makers with tow and payload ratings but has not done so.

Why?: Again, could it be that they are being closer to what is a realistic rating, and not getting sucked into the power, payload ratings race?

You do know that a new rating system will most likely be coming out next year, and Toyota is one of the first ones to do it with the Tundra.

I think a lot of these manufacturer ratings have been some real "stretches" to promote increased sales.

I'm not questioning some of the ratings, but overall, I can't see Chrysler/Dodge sitting on their collective hands and letting the manufactures exceed them constantly with higher payloads and pulling stats without a plausible reason?

And yes, I do own a Dodge.

The tan interior is nicer yet.

I suspect Dodge is going to find some decent transmissions and start shipping with a 360/800 Cummins. It already makes that power in motorhome applications.

The G56 6.7 is still stuck at 610 ftlbs, back where the 5.9 was in 2005. Dodge is really hurting for transmissions.

The first to use the new tow rating system was GM with the new HD. How do you think Ford and GM are overrating their trucks? You have proof of this overrating? Since GM did use the new tow rating guidelines what’s the excuse now?

If Dodge decides not to get caught up in the power, payload race, I don't see it working out very well for them.

360HP & 800 ftlb of TQ?? Guess it would be nice, but that isn't why I purchased the 2010 Dodge Ram 3500 Dually. Having had three D/A's, I'm truly impressed with this Dodge's Automatic tranny. Mine is rated at 350 HP and 650 ftlb of TQ...just 10 hp and 15 ftlb of TQ less than the 07.5' D/A (LMM) Dually that I traded in... but I can't tell any difference between the two as far as power is concerned. Yeah, I know, the 2011 is another story...yeah, I know that also, still not impressed, except for the prices I've seen on a 1 ton loaded out similiar Chevy Dually...the Dodge was still a better deal..Having towed sig. 5er with the Chevy and now the Dodge in the mountains of TN, NC and SC.....I can't tell much difference between the Ally and this automatic that is in this Dodge....Don't have the stick, and don't want one, so with the automatic, I have 40 more HP and 40 more ftlb of TQ. The Dodge automatic works great for me and I'm speaking from having towed the same 5er with the Chevy and with the Dodge dually diesels.

I guess it'll be just a matter of time before Dodge tries to catch up with Ford and Chevy in the TQ, HP and weight wars, but it's a bit refreshing to see someone put out enough HP and TQ to tow my 5er and look great doing it, inside and out and for less money than I would have paid for a similiar Ford or Chevy....yeah, I know this for FACT because I looked at and priced all three and got my best deal with Dodge, on "bottom line " price and best trade in.....yeah....still feeling pretty doggone good about this truck...so far, no regrets whatsoever....

Yes, the interior of the 2011 Dodge may well be the nicest. But that's where the story ends for Dodge in 2011. Both Ford and GM have done a lot of work to their trucks to increase the power, braking, and payload ratings etc for 2011.

This is not a shot at Dodge, but this year I turned down a Dodge DRW because of the payload ratings compared to both Ford and GM.

My advise to Chrysler is to get off their "collective hands" and get back into the game. We need you.

Thanks Paul

Guess it depended on what you wanted to tow. My 5er has a GVW of 16,900#, though heaviest I've ever had it loaded is 15,250#. With the 4:10 rear end, it gave me a GCWR of 24,500#, which was 1,000# more than my 07.5'....more than enough, and at 12,000# GVWR, it offered 800# than my 07.5'...don't need to compare to a 2011...Guess if your towing really heavy..then the Ford F350 dually or Chevy/GM 3500 Dually is the way to go, but for me and the amount of money I saved....I didn't need the extra HP/TQ or tow numbers....got all I need with some extra....and saved a pretty good little hunk of change in the deal to boot......

With these kind of prices on 3/4, 1 ton SRW and 1 ton DRW trucks, doesn't matter to me if Chrysler sit's on their "collective hands" or not, at least they're not pricing themselves out of the market with some of us.....

If you want to tow 20K get a MDT. No comparrison to any 1 ton. Personally I have seen all sorts of rigs that, even though the mfg. states it is within limits, I just don't think it is wise. When we upgrade in the next year it will be an MDT truck. Drive one and you will see what a difference between them and any 1 ton.
