I just bought a Mallard Sprinter 21' RV with Chevy 350 block engine and need a generator. I found a DuroMax XP4400E Portable RV Gas Powered Electric Start Generator, 4400 watts with (2) Fully protected 120V outlets & (1) 120V/240V twist-lock outlet & 12hr run time@50% -8 Hr@max......for $419. Is this a good deal or can I get a better one elsewhere?

This sounds like a "jobsite genny" and if it is, there are two major drawbacks.
1. Its full 4400W is available only at 240V. At 120V, you get only two 2200W circuits.
2. The things are LOUD!!! Fine if you're off by yourself, nobody within about half a mile, and you can stand the noise yourself. In a campground, if you don't hate yourself, everybody else will.
Keep your eyes open for a used ONAN 4000 (4KW). It'll cost twice the jobsite genny at a minimum, but:
1. Will mount IN your genset bay.
2. Will have all 4KW available so it's like being plugged into a 30A campground pedestal.
3. Has an background noise level instead of a shattering one.

I would encourage you to avoid open frame generators (construction site stuff) whatever you do. They're at least 4x louder than a "quiet" type.
I'm with Crazy Ray - Yamaha EF2400 is what I have too and it's great, runs my rooftop AC when I need to. Unfortunately it is a little expensive, but I shouldn't ever need to replace it.
The new Champion silent inverter generator linked above is listed online for 700 bucks, if I was shopping for a new portable genny now I'd give that a serious look.

Without knowing where he will use it or if it would be bothering anyone where he will use it, you really can not say his choice is bad. It does not make sense to spend $2000 on generator used one or two times a year. I know there is difference in noise levels, but not everyone has the money to spend on the quieter generators.
