I would like to hear some first hand comments on how a Class C with the Ford V10 pulling, say a Jeep Wrangler, handle the mountains. I have been looking at something like a Winnabago Outlook. I would not expect it to top the mountain with the diesels, but would just like to have a feel from some of you who drive rigs like this, what you really think about them when it comes to towing in the hills.

I have really been considering a Jayco Seneca, but I am afraid these things are about to get higher that I want to pay for an RV. I would not be in the mountains very often, but would like to be able to tow over the pasees in Colorado a couple of times a year. Let me hear what you think.

My boss has that exact setup. He has a Class C (32') with the Ford V-10 towing a wrangler. He just got back from Bristol, also went over to the Carolinas. He has gone all over pulling that Jeep and never had a problem. The Jeep is one of the smallest/lightest toads. I have gone with him on quite a few occasions and I cannot keep up. He likes to cruise around 70-75mph, sometimes a little higher and I average 65mph. I usually tell him to just make sure he has a cold beer ready for me when I get there. I do not think the speeds he travels are safe and have told him that on many occasions, I tell you this to let you know that he has not trouble pulling that little thing.

With my Itasca Cambria 28B V10, I pull a Chevy Tracker. I live in the mountains and can maintain all speed limits with out any problems.

We just finished at 6 week trip across the mountains east to west in Alberta and BC and east from Washington/Oregon to Yellowstone, Big Horn and Mt Rushmore, then finally home to Ontario. Our Honda Accord is about 3300lbs pulled by the 29' Outlook on the Ford V-10 chassis. No problems except for a probable 8 - 9 % grade for miles going up US14 in the Bighorns. Maximum speed was 25 to 30mph but elsewhere we were able to maintain at least 50mph. Acceleration and performance is not much different with or with the Toad.

We have a 28 footer and also pull a Jeep Wrangler (also pull a Vibe). We spent a couple of weeks this summer in Colorado and Utah. You don't get there from Michigan without crossing the Mountains. I am used to driving a diesel MH in that area. I was pleasantly surprised by the way the Ford handled the grades. The engine/tranny combination worked together very well. I was never concerned much about climbing steep grades; I'm more concerned how the unit handles coming down steep grades. This is where the V-10 and transmission really shines. The engine breaking ability of this combination is excellent.

I had a Class C with the V10 and towed a Toy P/Up thousands of miles with no problems. The V10 is the best gas eng that I have ever owned. I have TT now
that I tow with a V10 eng

I have an older V10 powered "C", and it does fine. Pulling a 3K toad it will still pass gas powered As of the same vintage. Newer ones have a bit more power so will do slightly better.

We have a 2007 B+ motor home with E350-V10, towing a 3800 pound Jeep Liberty. Simply stated.......no problem what so ever climbing mountains at any legal speed.

Thanks for all the good replies. It helps to have other folks basiclly confirm your thouhts. It appears that a lot of folks tow with the V10 and most seem very satisfied with the performance. Thanks again and would appreciate any others opinions.
