I have been getting mail from GS about purchasing an extended warrany. My 5er is an 09 out of warranty. If you have one are you glad you do, anyone else checked into it? Would it be cheaper to just wait for it to break(ie AC, Heater, etc.) and buy a new one.

if your handy and can do repairs on your own , find the cost of the warrenty, put that in a seprate account ,and you;ll have better coverage than you can buy , and don;t have to argue if its covered or not. and a hole lot faster claim service.

There are usually too many hoops and fine print in these policies. Thus they never pay when you have a claim. Bank the money, and smile.

The warranty company will use every excuse in the book to keep from paying for even covered things....Plus the companys are bad to claim bankruptcy then reopen with a different name.....

For what most seem to cost, you'd be better off not buying one. Some are so many $$$ that buying a new "whatever" could very well be cheaper. Even when the lift pump and injector pump both went out on my 2001 Dodge diesel, I seriously doubt that cost would have come up to the cost of many of those money makers for those who sell them.

I disagree. It depends. I bought one a few months before the warranty on my engine expired making the coach a new one in the eyes of the company. I paid $2,700 for 4 years with $50 deductable. That was last year. My coach was just a few months from 5 years old and the policy has paid for itself in repairs, and I still have over 3 years remaining. I have a good policy with a company that has approved each request.
