Hello, I am a total newbie to RV's and i have probably bitten off more than i can chew again. I have just purchased a 1976 GMC Coachmen leprechaun for $600.
It has a blown 350 in the front engine compartment. I have a friend who has a 400 C.I Motor for $200
The RV has a lot of wood rot. I had no idea about the rot until i started pulling off stuff and finding more rot. Oh surprise More Rot! So after reading the web a little bit and finding this great forum. I have the confidence i can rebuild this beast. I have taken a few photos and could use any feedback as how to do this rebuild effectively and cost efficient.
My Mom would say jack up the radiator cap and put a new RV under it.
But alas i do not have the funds to go out and buy a new RV. So i will post here the progress that i make and if nothing else the knowledge i gain from this project could help someone in the future.
I have lots of photos i have taken of the demo. I will post them in the next posting

The engine is the easy part. I once had a 26 Ft Winnebago that the 350 engine was bad in and I put in a 454 with a roller RV cam. Structually it was sound, but the inside cosmetics needed real help. Old shag carpeting replaced, seats recovered (DW sews) and new curtains made. Put in the largest radiator I could buy that fit and electric fans for the cooling. Milage went from 6-7 mpg and it wouldn't pull a sick hooker off the pot all the way to 10.5-11 and plenty of power. Take your time and take oic so you know where all goes back to. Good luck.

What is the best way to replace the plywood floors am i going to have to remove all of the walls first. to make the repair correctly done is there another way. to replace the floors. they look like they are sandwiched in between the the wall studs and the floor joist. and with the width of the floors being 7'8" 1/8 is it possible to jack up the side walls and slide the floor in? If this has already been discussed i apologize I have done a search on forms and did not find anything on the subject of replacing floors.
