Keep trying to increase the output of an engine Ford already over-tuned and marketed as stock is a good way to end up with a $6,000.00 head replacement like me.

I'm not claiming to be a 6.0L PSD expert here, but IMO, adding power to a 6.0L PSD is like burning a candle at both ends.

If you do decide to add a tuner get something like SCT that can have custom tunes added.

I don't think it is like burning a candle at both ends I feel its more like it is putting a blow torch to the whole candle at once. I have a late 2006 6.0 F550 and I would never consider trying to tweak it for more HP. IMO that is turning on the timer on a time bomb and you are going to be there when it blows.

Keep it stock and take the little extra time it takes to reach the top of the hill. Better than not reaching it at all. EGT's rise either back out or down shift to a lower gear (if you aren't going to exceed the max RPM) and bring the RPM up as that also helps to cool the engine down.

This is IMO.

I have to agree. The 6.0 is already on the edge. I love mine and haven't had a lick of trouble in 5 years, but I am bone stock. Go over to Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forum and take a look around there. You will find good advice (think head bolts) and accurate information if you must chip a 6.0. Ford will find out if you blow up and they will void your warranty. Best of luck.
