I have a 07 6.0 F-350 Crewcab Longbed and tow a KZ Montego Bay Fiver about 14,500 lbs give or take. I have installed a Banks Monster exhaust and Banks Intake. I monitor Boost, Pyro and Trans temp. very carefully. We are on the road every month as we love to get away. I have noticed that at certain times or obviously certain grades the truck seems to be working real hard. I start to run near 1250 egt's and once I back off to get her cool I scrub off so much speed I have a real problem getting back up to speed. I have been told to install a Banks econo mind turner and will notice a real differenc in towing. I was also told to use a superchips flaspaq and as I will also see hugh gains. Has anyone experienced the same issues and do you have info pro or con to help me. I also may add I am not tring to turn the tracks fastest 1/4 mile. I just want sometime that will increase towing power and not strain the tow vehicle as much. Ford has already install a new turbo since I had a bad one or possible cooked it before I installed my gauges and started to be a tempeture monitor.
Thanks you RV Net friends.

Like I said in another post. I keep it all stock.
Higher torque and horsepower means higher temps. The stock head studs can't take the extra umph. You are flirting with disaster here.

Just my own opinion and what I'de read in the Ford truck forums.

You are better off leaving the 6.0 stock. The 6.0 does not hold up well to tunners. The 2006 and 07 6.0 engines are better than the eariler models but still or not good for tunners. With a mild tune like you are talking about you might be ok but I would,t want to chance it. Your call though.

This is not a good venue for advice on the 6.0 Ford engine. Too many opinions from people who have mostly anecdotal experience offering advice that is at best outdated. I recommend researching this question at the Ford truck forums, particularly the 6.0 forum at the Ford Truck Enthusiast web site. There is a wealth of information there about just what you want to know. There are thousands of 6.0 owners successfully towing fivers with stock trucks and some sort of programmer/tuner. The key to that success is understanding the differences between a true programmer and a tuner. If you would like more info, PM me and I will try to help.

I had a SuperChips Flashpaq for my '05 6.0L. I also had an MBRP turbo-back exhaust, S&B intake, and Accu-Fab intake elbow. After a month with the Flashpaq, I returned it to stock and never looked back.

I eventually lost it for a year. When I found it, I gave it to friend with a 7.3. He loved it.

Sounds like you are not power limited, you are EGT limited. Adding more power won't help your EGTs any.

I've been on several Powerstroke/Ford Truck forums since these forums were first created. You've already done everything to your truck that most on those forums feel is "prudent." Any tuner will greatly increase the chances of damaging the 6.0 engine. But, check out:

www.powerstroke.org/forums
www.ford-trucks.com/forum
or the Yahoo Powerstroke forum

for yourself. Then you can make a more informed decision. After all, IF the engine fails, you'll be the one who has to pay for the repairs.

Look up DP tuner, send him an email and explain what you have done and what you want as an end result and he will be strait up and honest of weather the engine can handle it or weather you need to do "other" work also.

generaly with banks you spend way more than you have to for the results you get.

I wouldn't chip or tune. In the cult-a-sac I live in each of us have diesel trucks (between us there is Ford, Chevy, Dodge) with trailers/toy haulers. My next door neighbor is a Diesel mechanic. Each one of us has had an issue of one kind or another (believe it or not, with me owning the Ford has been the last to have an issue).

It sounds like you have yours breathing better (intake and exhaust). If making an investment, my advice would be to add cooling capacity (aftermarket coolant filter, oil cooler, stuff like that). I wouldn't try to get more power, which creates more heat, i would go after ways to keep the temp's down overall.
