Bottom line is if you are hooked to water & sewer use a lot of water per flush and ise as I stated above & be good IMHO!!
Here is where I would differ with some. If you have a site with sewer, why would you leave your drain open? The idea of good drainage is to have as much liquid in your tank as possible and when the tank is full, open the drain.
If you leave your drain open while hooked up to sewer, most often all that will go down the drain is the liquid - the solid stuff just sits there and builds up.
Our TT is on a permanent site. It is hooked up to sewer. Our drain is closed until I determine we 'need' to dump. I dump, turn on our Quickie Flush to flush the system, close the drain, add a couple gallons fresh water to the black tank and then add my GEO tank cleaning products (Calgon + liquid laundry soap) and we are good to go until the tank fills up again.
This past week we had a TT pull in the spot next to us. They hooked up their sewer line, opened the drain and left it like that all weekend & all weekend all we smelled was their sewer line.

Well, the original black tank odor control products were mostly presertives, You don't want to preserve it, you want to get rid of it.
They they put out sanatizers and perfumes.. Again, not what you want
The "Waste Digesters" are what you want, they begin to liquefy the solids so as to make them flush out easier. They improve septic action once they get into the parks system (Insted of killing it)
That said... A few weeks ago I spent a day lying on the foor of the head.. Toilet in the hall, tearing up the riser the toilet sits on and rebuilding it with new wood.
No sewer smell.. NOTE that with the toilet off, and I do not use chemicals save water. There was NOTHING to block the smell from coming back up the pipe. and there was no objectionable odor.
Now the gray tank.. That is a stink of a much higher heaven.
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

This is the ONLY black tank additive that I've found that will keep my level sensors working all the time - I use it exclusively now. The only place I've found it is ordering over the Internet:

Waste Digesters add a very small amount of enzymes and bacteria compared to what bathroom users will be depositing in the tank (>30% of which is bacteria by weight source). Eating prunes would be a less expensive way of increasing the amount of microbes being added to the tank than adding "waste digesters".

We all have different body chemistry, different noses and, of course, different opinions.
For us, breaker-downers work best. We prefer Happy Camper, but cannot resist experimenting. This trip we are using RV Digest It, and it is a trifle less pleasant to smell, and does not break down stuff as well as Happy Camper. We have tried other enzymes with similar results.

2x Tell them like it is.
Some just do not know their poo poo.
Folks if you use Rid-X or the Dollar General house brand as we do there are not solids left draining time based on our "field" tests. Keep in mind we are driving between dumps so it is well stirred too.
You can perfume it or you can digest it into all liquid. Try the all natural way and you may like it before you poo poo on the idea.

I use Pine Sol. I put in about ΒΌ cup after dumping with a couple of gallons of water. Been doing that for two summers now and so far have no problems. We spend several months in the TT at a time so the tanks get used on a regular basis. When we get home I use a power washer to get the tank clean for winter storage. Got the idea from DW parents who full timed for a couple of years in a MH.
