my 2008/2010 sprinter/pleasure way b van has been declared dead by dodge chrysler. we bought it new at the end of feb. 2010. after many, many calls for help and futile calls to chrysler, we finally have been turned over to Impartial Services Group in Texas. they are in charge of the buy back. does anyone have any experience or advice about dodge buy backs, especially using ISG?

I had a good friend that had a lemon Town and Country Van with very serious issues, including stalling on the freeway at 65 MPH...that was turned over to Impartial Services Group (Chrysler apparently uses them quite frequently!).
The end result was that he was offered a brand new Chrysler of his choice and some cash for his inconvenience. He told them he would take the cash settlement but not another Chrysler product. He got a new Toyota Sienna instead from ISG!
I worked with a guy who had a Pontiac Grand Am Lemon, in the dealers shop 90% of his ownership. A company that does the same thing as ISG setteled with him, he also refused to take another Pontiac, and got a new Mustang GT instead! I suppose most car brands have the same kind of mediation service, but Chrysler keeps Impartial Services Group pretty busy!

The eventual settlement of this may depend on how the lemon laws in the state where you live (or where you bought it) are worded. I suspect that you can find them online. I think I'd be doing some research, and maybe getting a lawyer to at least brief you on your rights under the applicable law beforehand. That's a bunch of money to have at risk.
But other than that, I can only wish you a heartfelt good luck. If you legally can, keep us updated. It'd be a good thing to have in the archives here.

I'll be interested in how this comes out, since Daimler made the van (either in Germany or assembled from a kit at their U.S. Freightliner plant), sold the truck to PleasureWay through the Dodge division of Daimler-Chrysler, then sold the Chrysler part of the business to an arbitrager that took it into bankruptcy.
After the Chrysler bankruptcy, PleasureWay built a motorhome inside the truck, then sold it to you.
It will be real interesting to see if the settlement arbitrator wants to settle for the value of a 2008 Sprinter van, or if they will also pay for the house built inside it, which approximately doubled the cost.

Good luck. Seems like half, or a good portion, of the battle has been won by you since you've succeeded in getting them to declare it a 'lemon' in the first place. That's usually very tough and time consuming.

I have no experience with this but this raises a big question. Dodge is buying back a lemon Sprinter which is worth about half to a third of what the actual PleasureWay Conversion is worth (and for which you paid). How do they deal with that? I would think that Pleasureway needs to be involved somewhere in this so that you actually get replaced what you own - a new Class B RV.

You would think that they could take a new van and move all the MB "guts" to the Pleasure-way cheaper than anything else, as the van is the cheap part. Of course the lemon may just show up on e-bay as a low mileage, one owner, used Pleasure-way.

as Tom Test wrote, I am most concerned that Chrysler won't compensate for the Pleasure Way coach portion of the value. Since Pleasure Way is a Canadian company,I wonder what liability they have. We won't hear from ISG until next week. They did call our home phone and of course, we weren't home! We had emphasized to use the cell number so we would not miss a call but that didn't work. I will keep this group informed.

Wow, So sorry to hear about problems with the Sprinter, especially with a Pleasureway conversion. We have had the usual Sprinter problems but the local dealer is quite experienced an has always been able to repair it.
Would you mind sharing the problems that caused the lemon law turn in?
