With Shelter, I pay $255 a year on my 2006 Sportmobile. My 2009 Kia Borrego cost me $436 a year. Same discounts and deductibles on both.

FWIW, my Sportsmobile has a removable Porta Potti and there was no problem insuring it as an RV. As to insurance costs, I didn't even ask if an RV was cheaper, as my goal was to have the full value of the conversion covered in addition to the van. It's been several years since I started the policy, but I'm pretty sure my agent (small town family friend) let me declare its value. I don't remember having to produce any special proof of the value. YMMV.
