Since I use dual time zone clocks I never let that bother me.. (Ham radio operators tend to have a clock set to UTC, what used to be called GMT or Zulu time)
But... With some of the television stuff I have the zip code sets the clock, If I set it to, for example 48219 (N.W. Detroit) it goes Eastern, DST on, If I set it to say 89115,, That is Las Vegas time.
I think DISH.. it is set by DISH, to your billing time zone.
But it is not a problem to add/subtract an hour here and there as needed, I do it from once a day to several times.
but then I also do metric/English conversion in my head often as not (Provided I don't need precise conversion) Quickly now.. IF it's -40(f) out, what is that in (c)?
A: -40, same on both scales crossover point)
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

You time zone is set according to your service location. It is not a user settable item. The only way to get it correct is to call Dish and change your service location.

I use Dish also and as said before you have to call DN and change address location, sometime it is simple, and sometimes it is a nightmare, if you get one of the foriegn services just hang up and call back until you get an american speaking person.. you do not have to tell them you are in an RV, just change address and give them the address to the location you are and zip code, take about 3/5 minutes. We only do this if we plan on staying a couple of weeks at that location..you can get regular programming without changing anything, you do not get the locals. Locals are on Spot Beam and only cover a certain area..

How to solve two problems with one product:
Problem one: Time zone is off
Problem two: Dang, the game started 30 minutes ago and I missed it
Problem two B: Dang, The game has gone into overtime and I have to go so I'm not going to see the end.
Solution; TiVo
Set the TiVo to whatever time zone you like let it download its program guide via the internet, forget the guide on the Dish receiver.. TiVo can control the Dish Receiver, record the program and you can watch it later.
Bonus: You get an ATSC tuner (Over the air digital) on the latest TiVos
Alternative to TiVo if you can find one:
I have a pair of Replay TV units in this coach... One in front, One in back, Both can record (just like a DIsh DVR or a DirecTV DVR I can record two shows at a time, actually I can do 3 if I buy more DVD RW's (3rd device) 4 if I cable in the tv tuner in this computer.
I can then watch any recorded show on either television (Either recorder) thanks to my Local Area Network. I can watch a show AS IT RECORDS on the machine recording it.
I understand the latest TiVo's have this feature.. Replay had it first.
But alas, Replay no longer produced and no ATSC w/o a converter... Of course it controls the converter.
