Quick question...

I recently had Dish installed woth a VIP 722K receiver and using a Wingard Carry Out. So far all has been well but we moved from Oregon to Montana and my Guide is 1 hr off.

I haven't been able to find anything in set up or preferance that allow me to change the time zone or ZIP.

Any help would be appreciated as calling Dish on any subject has been an excesize in futility.

Thanks for any comments.

Just call or e-mail Dish. Then keep their number handy for future needs.

Older Dish receivers used to have a problem with time zone changes. I once discussed this topic with the guy in the site next door who had Dish. He told me that he had to call Dish Network, explain that he's in an RV which travels through time zones. It seems that when you are identified as a RV customer, there is a special field on your account information called: "RV Location". Entering the zip code into this field automatically re-calculates your time zone and updates your receiver through it's satellite link. Every time he calls, he has to get past the "you can't do that" attitude, he has to explain the "RV Location field" business and get them to change the zip code. This is all hearsay because I have DirectTV and enter it directly into my receiver. And I don't know if this info still applies with current Dish receivers.

Hard to believe there isn't a setup screen for changing that. After all, it has to know what TZ it's in when initially set up. Oh well..

It may be as simple as setting the correct zip code.

Well, did speak with a Dish rep and he had me unplug the reciever and plug it back in to reset it so it "can find my location". No Joy!!!

Finialy he gave up and send a message "up the line" and said I could expect a call in 48 hrs. Said this was a very unusual situation and I would just have to wait.

If you have an RV waiver, just call dish Customer Service and ask to change of my "service address". If you have local channels on your package, they will also be changed to the area you are in. They just ask that you do not do this more than a couple times a month, but they will work with you. Been doing this for years and have never had a problem.

Yep, did that but nothing happens. Looks like it just calulates the angles for dish pointing.

Don't know about Dish but on DirectTV its a menu driven operation. I'd bet its available on Dish also but like DirectTV its pretty well hidden in the maze of menu options.
