Might try getting a piece of bed floor out of a wrecking yard and weld that in.
That'd be my choice.

That would be my fix, or spend the $500 and pick up a take off bed from a yard. Pick up a Auto Trader mag from a carryout they are in (the take off beds) the back of the mag just past the HD truck section.

The hitch should cover the hole when in the bed, and when removed just throw in a bed mat.

I have a pop up ball gooseneck and a set of rails in my bed. I took a thick bed mat and cut it into 3 sections to leave the rails exposed. The middle piece covers the gooseneck. Or, could you take the top part of the gooseneck you took out, and have it welded back into the hole?

I'd find some flush mount fold down tie down rings.

If your truck bed is like mine after getting the spay in liner, you will need all the drainage possible to keep water from sitting in the bed.

Whats your worry about the 4" hole in the middle of the bed anyway??

Do you haul your dogs in the bed of the truck?? If so I could understand your concerns.

A small piece of 18 ga sheet metal can be hand formed to reasonably match the corrugation of the bed floor, then welded in place, ground smooth and painted over to look nice and cover the hole.

Kind of off the wall but...I have seen a round chrome flat cover plate with one hole in the middle that is used in certain plumbing applications...Can't remember the last one I saw but I bet they're not too hard to find.

Do you mean like the sink plug used to fill the unused holes in a stainless steel sink ?

no i think hes talking about the flat disk that is chrome and used to cover pulmbing or any type of junction it has a single screw hole in the middle there about 4-5 inches across

Actually they mostly cover the clean out areas
