We are heading to Longs SC in 2 weeks and I see that mapquest and Good Sam provide different routes....I will be leaving Jersey about 11pm so traffic will not be an issue.I will be pulling a 34ft TT with a Dodge 1500 w/hemi.What is the best route??? any road work I should be made aware of? maybe 81 all the way? Any Help would be nice .This our FIRST LONG TRIP -Thanks

With the hours that you plan to travel, I believe I would take 95 as you should miss the DC rush. BY taking 81 you would be adding quite a few extra miles/time to your trip, plus some pretty good size hills.

Yep, I agree with this. When I went to Longs I drove over I64 to Richmond and took I95 down. Going down we took I40 over to Wilmington and coming back we went over to Dillion and up 95. IMHO I81 is much longer and considerably more hilly.

Time wise I-95 is probably the best, but I hate that road on our yearly trip down to Fl each year and if you ever have a little extra time US17 from the Va Bch area or US301 are both nice changes over the I-95 drag.

OH man, Willow Tree Resort is the best, I stayed there about 4 years ago when they were still putting in most of their sites. I want to go back there so bad.

I have to disagree. 95 sucks almost anytime except early Sunday Morning. Depending on where you are in Jersey, either take PA turnpike or I78 to I81. Then 81 south to I77 to I26 would be my first choice. better scenery, less traffic and less stress.Yes,it is longer. For me near Reading,Pa it takes about an hour longer but well worth it.

I too love Willow Tree. I would suggest 95 to 695 west @ baltimore to 97 to 301 to 207, near Bowling Green,Virginia,to 95 to 74{exit 14} to 410 to hwy 9 which takes to Longs.

Another vote for I-81 to I-77 to I-26. You don't want to be between Richmond and Philly pulling a trailer if you can help it, especially on your first long trip. JMHO.

There are some HILLS on I-81 but it ain't the Rockies!
