When I took the cover off my Jayco Eagle yesterday, the lap sealant on the roof had stuck to the cover, and has pulled up in a couple of places. The sealant is pliable, and I was able to move it around enough to cover the spots where it pulled off. However, I think it would be a good idea to repair the entire length of the seal.

I believe the sealant is the Dicor self-leveling lap sealant. It is very tacky, and the exposed surfaces look black/grey, as I think airborne soot and dirt must stick to it. Mineral spirits seems to take it off.

When making this repair, should I remove the old sealant completely, or can I just reapply over the original stuff? This is the top front seal where the EPDM forms a seam with the front cap of the rig, and it looks like it was poured on.

I scrape off most of the old Dicor, clean the area with mineral spirits and then apply new Dicor self leveling sealer. It works fine.
