“Axe” or “ax” for “ask” and “axt” for “asked” are commonly used in some dialects. I can’t fault anyone for writing as he/she speaks.
BTW: I am something of a purist regarding the English language. However, as long as I can understand the gist of a post I don’t worry about spelling (often a typo), syntax or usage. I do sometimes have problems with punctuation, or lack thereof.
I recommend writing any post in a word processing program, reading it over, and then copying to the forum. I do this for my e-mails too. This suggestion will fall on deaf ears, I know; most people resist taking the additional step. I also highly recommend use of the "preview" feature - it has saved me from a gaffe or two.

I agree that there are spelling and word usage errors.
But what I find more of a problem are people who will not use the shift key for capital letters or use paragraphs.
It seems that the more computer literate people are often the ones who don't use capital letters. They start sentences with small case letters. And type names of people and companies all in small case letters. I guess it is not cool to be a computer expert and be bothered with using the shift key.
The other thing is not using paragraphs. Run-on sentences are bad enough but it is when people type and type and keep going on and on for 30, 40, 50 lines without any visual break. Sometimes they will post a full page of text without any break. When people talk the same way, just keep talking on and on, they are often ignored.
One thing that would help in a lot of the problems is just proofread what you typed before you post it. An if you post something and then see you made an error it is not hard to use the edit function.

I would never start a topic picking on spelling, however, since someone else did . . . .
I will add my 2 cents worth.
Lose and Loose. I see these 2 words used improperly more than any others.
You cannot say your wheel nuts are lose, they are loose.
You can't loose something, you lose it!
loose means not tight,
lose means it is lost,
There are many others but I will leave it alone with only one pair of words!

Being born, raised, and educated in Canada trying to use any spell checking feature that is set for English,(US) is fun. Seems we Canajuns eh? have far too many "U"s for some reason and are still trying to use them up in words like harbour, colour, etc.
It's tough since we also have a different alphabet than our neighbours to the south, ours ends in a "Zed", theirs ends in a "Zee".
