Take a trip through Louisiana. If yout rig will make it OK then you are good to go to Alaska.

Fulltimers. No more grass to cut, no more leaves to rake, and can move if we don't like our neighbors.
States we spent time in, drive throughs not marked.

We're in Alaska NOW with our 25' fifth wheel, towing with an F-250 7.3L PSD 4x4. No problems other than a tire going soft on the trailer today. Likely picked up a rock on the one of the many gravel roads we tend to enjoy. Had it fixed while in Anchorage getting an oil change on the truck.
The main roads are fine. Some heaves in the asphalt here and there.
Many folks have been complaining about the weather this year, but we've enjoyed decent weather with some too hot days, really. Only 2-3 days of rain in the past 4 1/2 weeks. Consensus with locals seems to be that it is getting "more coastal" in the interior of Alaska. Some say the vegetation and the animals are all shifting northward. Dunno.
Just been enjoying ourselves meandering around. Will be in Denali for the long weekend.

Just returned from caravan tour of Alaska Hwy. Out of 23 rigs damage from roads included; a few broken windshields; one bent tow bar on a rig towing a Hummer too fast over a frost heave, a couple of flats and some minor damage from items being tossed around inside the trailers
As stated before, GO SLOW in frost heave areas!

It's a long drive! So have your rig in good shape before starting out.
Going at least part way on a Blue Canoe is worth the cost.
You will be charged on the total length of your rig though.
Alaska Marine Highway
Can't recommend a ferry trip enough. Even if you leave your rig then travel as a walk on passengers to the next port then turn around and return back, you'll enjoy. Pick a sunny day if you can.
Personal favorite is Valdez to Whittier. Across Prince William sound on a nice day WOW!
Driving through a train tunnel to get in/out of Whittier is fun as well.
Have a wonderful trip.
