I left the city of Detroit 30 years ago (born, raised, Cass Tech, Wayne State, GM, then out in the 80's 'cause of imports.) I wouldn't park a Class A in about 80% of the city back then. Can't image what it's like now, but from the posts I'm getting a pretty good idea.

The City of Detroit has improved it's image alot from 30 years ago and has been working hard to do so...but the persistence remains in the city because it is a big city...lived here all my life and still would not be downtown alone at night...

I hope you bring a toad. Navigating/parking a MH anywhere near that location will be difficult.

There are no campgrounds in Detroit city limits. There is plenty of space with abandoned buildings, but I would not do it and don't recommend visitors to either. Maybe my enemies.... Anyway, Harbortown is a great RV resort, perfectly suited for your needs. Full hookups, clean park.

Another Michigander, stay at Harbortown and drive into Detroit. You won't be sorry. I wouldn't even stay in a Wal-Mart in detroit!

Detroit's so shady even Walmart won't go there! Harbortown or Sterling SP is my recommendation.

Haven't been thier but across the river is Windsor Campground (about 5 miles from downtown)

Sterling is a nice option and they may be in thier off season rates at that time.
