If these are similar to the other scissor type steps...can't you just lag bolt them on?

That's what I did...I wrap a cord around them for extra safety going down the road...but have never had any problem...

bb50, That would be really good for us. Our new camper is pretty small, it doesn't have any "wrap" (I think that is the term used). I am already wondering if we should not have purchased something bigger.

I use the same Tork lift Glow steps and mounted them semi-permanent. I can remove the Z brackets and lock nuts if I want to remove them.
They ride perfect resting on my reciever hitch.

Ditto....except mine aren't TorkLift brand. And mine is a receiver hitch, not a reciever hitch.

This sounds terrible, but we haven't seen the camper yet so will have to wait to see what we can do. We did it all by internet and photos. But we did find one of those platform things like is in the picture above while shopping for somethign else today. It would be easy to find a ramp for the pup and a step for us. When we get the camper, we will purchase that if it works and see about getting it fixed up with steps. We can hopefully carry some equipment on it too. Like a bike, a sewing machine, a rolling mill, and a generator. Well, something like that.

Here is what I did with the genset platform from Palomino since I wont be using it right away. I added non slip stripes from Lowes to keep me from sliding off if it gets wet.

I like the previous solution, and wondering where the mounting brackets come from?
On my steps, I made a platform for the top step with indoor/outdoor carpet. This makes a nice large first step platform with NO gap between the mount and first step. I ran into a couple in Oregon where DW stepped out to talk with DH, stepped sideways, and her foot went through the gap of the first step (severe broken leg)...ouch, and I immediately built the platform with NO gap.

I would suggest that you use them a little while before you make a decsion. When we ordered our new Outfitter I bought a set of Torklift steps just to use while I came up with a better plan. After using them for a short time I found that putting the step on and removing it only takes a few seconds and is no bother at all.

I made the mounting brackets from a piece of angle iron and attached 'em to the bumper with 1/4" screws and nutserts.
