I have a 1995 Coachmen on a Dodge with a 318 gas. The dash air is never turned off and running the freeway speeds of 65-70 mph on flat ground with my water tank full, my lowest was just under 15 with old gas, partially city driving and running the genny, while the highest was over 17 mpg

Looks like the 318V8 is much more efficient than the 360CI. Thanks for the input....Mike

We purchased our 1996 Dodge Pleasureway excel-360 engine-292 axel ratio,in 2004 with 32,000 miles and drive with the cruise on at 62 M.P.H. and air cond as needed and some generator usage and check the gas mileage every 10,000 miles or so, and was getting 14.3 M.P.G. in flat land and aoccasionally, some mountain driving. After 40,000 to 46,000 miles the mileage increased to 15 plus M.P.G., with no changes in driving habits. Bob

My axle ratio is 4.10 with the 360V8 so I suppose I'm held to higher fuel consumption. I do feel if I slow down a bit and the motor gets broke in more and I'm on flat land, that I should get marginally better MPG. Thanks for the reply......Mike

I calculate every tank. My 2005 Sprinter LTV 2500 158 wheelbase (long & tall) got 20-22 mpg at 65mph with AC on. On the way back, I kept it at 55-57mph and 24-25mpg. Diesel rules. I had 39k miles on it beginning the trip & 41k miles on the return.

We have a 2006 PW Excel TD. The best mileage we have ever gotten is 16.2 mpg and the worst is 13.8 mpg. We have the 5.4 L Ford V8 engine and are usually running the AC and are fully loaded. We also hold the speed down, usually cruise about 60 mph. Hope this helps.

Thanks Jim, and everyone, I like this information and to see how folks drive, what they drive and especially how much fuel used gas vs diesel power in these heavy units.........Mike

We have a 2006 PW Excel TS and V-10 8500 Miles so it not even broke in but on our recent move fom Seattle to AZ towing a fuull and heavy 8x5 uhaul we were able to get an average of 11mpg. Running w/o a tow we will avg 13mpg.

Thanks for the info: by the way what's the rear axle ratio with the V10? That and the Ford was the way I was headed if I hadden't found the American Cruiser.......Mike

Interesting mileage on the new engine. Do you do much local driving? What would you say your average speed was over that 9k?

How is the power on the 4.8L engine on the 190P? We have been looking to get the 6 with concern about highway driving and hills.
