Hello Folks, I wanted to ask what mileage you get with your class B? Gas/diesel.
Give us your Brand, year, model, engine size, roads(up/down/freeway or back road), avearge speed and if yow are light/heavy or running the air conditioning off the van engine.
I have a 1999 American Cruiser(discontinued), RE2000 with 360 V8,4.10 axle ratio, running heavy, 50% up and down mountains and 50% relatively flat plateau, running 70+- MPH as indicated off the GPS, ran 100% on air conditioning. Worst mileage was 11.2 in mountains and best was 13.78 on flat averaged 12.5+- MPG for 1,000 mile trip. Didn't think that was too bad when running AC and a heavy foot.
Just thought we could see what models and engines are the most efficient. Thanks for your input..........Mike P.S. not towing anything

Boy are you asking for it.
2004 Sprinter, 2.7 Ltr turbo diesel, auto matic with 4:10 gears. My worst mileage was 18 mpg in Utah 114 degrees, a/c on high, pretty heavy loaded on I-70 with big long hills 4-6% grades.
Usually get 20 mpg in town and over when I run over 70 on highway. Have gotten 22-24, but that's on 2 lane hiways in cool weather running 60-65 mph. Wind can knock 2-3 mpg out of it if it's a 30-40 mph headwind (fairly common here in Kansas).

You may not get many replies because this hs been covered a lot.
Try searching the archives, using different criteria, but staying in the Class B forum for you search.
This will get you started. http://www.trailerlife.com/cforum/index.........B21%7D%7Cpd%7B366%7D%7Cma%7B%7D/sr/1.cfm

Not much interest in anything but Class "B"s an there doesn't seem to be a consensus on what style/drivetrain gas/diesel is the best all around. and I forgot to put axle ratio into the mix......Mike

I didn't understand your reply. Have you searched the archives, and did you read through the link I gave you? Just about every "B"'s gas mileage has been reported, and is in the archives.

This is an old topic, which has been covered in great depth. Check the archives.

This topic does come up frequently but that doesn't particularly bother me. I'm always kind of interested to read what people say. I have an 05/06 Chevy Roadtrek 190 Popular. At 62.5 mph on I95 between Maryland and Florida I get between 15 and 15.5 mpg on various tanks of gas probably averaging around 15.3 for that trip. Overall with two years of ownership I have gotten 14.3 mpg. Around town between 10 and 12 mpg, probably on the lower side. Last summer on a trip out I70 to Pueblo then Westcliff, Colorado and then north through the mountains to Montana and back on I80 the mileages were all over the ballpark but my overall average didn't seem to change. Maybe the gas is different, maybe the gas pumps shut off sooner sometimes, who knows. I got as high as 17 mpg on Interstate roads that weren't as flat as here to Florida.

+1

The archived MPG threads seem too old. I'd expect mileage to improve with each model year. I'd love to hear how the new 4.8L is doing.

08/09 RT 170 here with 6.0L. I check my speedo, odometer, mpg/trip computer, etc against a GPS and manual calcs. This Chevy is about as accurate as I've ever seen in a vehicle.

A/C seems to make no difference, I usually only carry 10-12 gals of water, with empty holding tanks, and probably average 2-3 people, but otherwise, it's loaded with "stuff,"

At the 65 speed limit, flatish ground (NE I95), no wind, I get 17mpg. If I reduce speed to 60mph I'll get 18mpg. Add a headwind, or hilly terrain, or 70mph cruising speed, and I'll see 16mpg (maybe even 14mpg if all three).

It is very hilly and twisty where I live so around town, probably 11-12mpg. Overall, eyeballing a spreadsheet I keep, I estimate 14-15 range with an average speed of 35-40mph.
