Need help from RT owners:
I have a 2007 RT 170P with a 3rd seat behind front passenger seat. The seat flips up for access to a storage compartment beneath the seat. I'm going to try to explain my problem clearly but.....The seat portion is held onto the base and also "hinges" (?) via a bar with 2 round "clips" (not the right word) which are fastened to (screwed into) the moveable seat portion. The bar goes therough the round clip. One of my "clips" broke off where it screws into the seat portion and I can't secure the seat.
I took a photo and put a while piece of paper behind the intact "clip" at the bottom of the photo. Can I buy one of these "clips" locally (where? what would they be called?) OR do I need to order a replacement from RT OR does anyone who removed a 3rd seat have 1 or 2 lying around? Can I just replace the one part or do I have to get a new bar and 2 clips as a unit?

Thanks,
Mimi

I don't know if it would help you at all but we actually removed the third seat and replaced it with a set of plastic drawers. we liked the extra storeage so much that we had a custom set of drawers made in wood. We really seldom used the third seat so it was a waste of space for us. You might consider that. I know it is not a solution and maybe you need that third seat. It was just an idea that worked for us.

My 2002 has a drawer, not your hinge arrangement for the third seat. As a result I do not understand why you could not replace your broken clip arrangement with s pair of good strong hinges from your local OSH, Home Depot or Lowes.

The clip is pretty simple, basically just a metal strap bent around the hanger rod with a hole drilled in it for the mounting screw. You should be able to make one yourself by taking a strip of sheet metal about 3" long and 3/" wide, wrap it around a 1/4" bolt and drill a mounting hole where it comes back on itself. If you want it to look "original" you might hit it with some black spray paint. :-) You might be able to find something close at a good home supply store.

Murphyhappens: Thank you for translating -- clip, strap and hanger rod was what I meant to say!

Fixed it myself! Went to the hardware store, showed them what I needed and was directed to the electrical section. Got an insulated metal cable clamp. The smallest was 1/2" which was larger than the original. So I switched one of the original clamps to the seat portion (where the one had broken) and used the larger replacement clamps on the base....and it worked!
Thank you, murphyhappens, for the correct language. Wonder what RT would have charged (it costs me less than $2)?
