All 5th wheel RV users used grease before the disc came on the market years back and was available every where. I've used both and prefere the disc.

I have pulled my 5er without either. After a few trips the paint was mared some but no metal to metal contact.

I'm glad I didn't know that. I've been using the disc with my Pullrite SuperFifth for at least ten years and have never had either problem you claim. I'll have to check with Snopes about your statement.
Pullrite also does NOT recommend putting grease on the jaws or other moving parts. They want owners to use WD40 and it works real well.

I use a little grease on the hitch head and on all moving parts and king pin. I also use a teflon lube plate. In my eyes, there can't be overkill on lubrication and until it is "proven" otherwise, I'll continue to use both.

My hitch, Curt Q5 20k, has three zerk grease fittings for the mechanism but a teflon plate for the head. Inspect the plate frequently and replace every couple of years.

Sooper, Your statement is certainly true for the SuperGlide. Since the Capture Plate takes up the space needed. So the Teflon plate will not fit into the coupling area. And is NOT recommended for the SuperGlide.

But the PullRite SuperFifth hitch does not use a Capture Plate. So a teflon disk can be used with no problem. There is plenty of room for the disk to fit in the coupling, without causing high hitch issues.

Greasing the KingPin is recommended, in either case.

In my opinion you should still grease the pin and the hitch jaws though.

X2, except I DON'T grease the hitch's jaws. I grease only the pin since it's easily wiped off and reapplied when necessary. I spray Teflon or silicone on the moving parts of the hitch (jaws) so there is less chance of attracting grit or dirt. I also keep the hitch covered with a tarp strapped down with bungee cords in order to keep out rain, dirt, etc. when it's not in use.

I'm surprised at the number of RVers who leave their hitches unprotected (i.e. uncovered) in their truck's bed over long periods of time.

Gotta remember the pin itself and the jaws are metal to metal. Metal to metal is never good so I put a lil grease on the pin. That's so when you bang your head on it you have 2 reasons to swear and cuss, your head hurts and you got grease in your hair.

I agree but application of grease to the pin will automatically transfer grease to the jaw area that is contacted by the pin. Purpose of application of spray Teflon or silicone to moving parts of hitch is mainly to keep them operating smoothly and provide some protection against rust. Works for me....

When I purchased my Pullrite used, it looked as it had never been greased. The square tubes that the hitch slides on had been galled in several places.
After making the contact surfaces flat and smooth again, I applied and keep a good coating of grease on the parts that move during turns.
And since the top of hitch plate and king pin needs SOMETHING on it I grease it as well.
