I noticed that tracter trailers put grease on their 5th wheel. Does anybody suggest that for a 5th wheel with an RV or is that only for the 18 wheelers.

I've never seen grease on an recreational vehicle 5th wheel hitch. Everyone is using a Teflon ring to allow the hitch to swivel without metal to metal grinding. If you do use grease on the hitch, you will have to continually lubricate it for protection. And what a mess if you bump into the RV or the hitch in the truck bed. It was bad enough walking into an unprotected hitch ball when the trailer was disconnected :-)

Teflon plate is the only way to go as it doesn't leave deposits on your clothes
5er's are disconnected much of the time allowing dirt to collect on grease. Big rigs are connected 99% of the time, if he's making any money.

I even use one on my gravel train. A much larger disk but, still teflon and NO grease!

In my opinion you should still grease the pin and the hitch jaws though.

I grease. Yes, I clean and regrease regularly. I like grease and I'm not afraid of it, it doesn't eat through my skin or clothes like battery acid and most everything I have has had oil or grease on it one time or another anyhow, so it doesn't hurt my feelings to get a little on me. Grease protects from corrosion and lubes the pin and jaws, something no little plastic disc is ever going to do.
No harm to those who use them, just not for me.

I did a test pull just today with two of the plates. Hitched and pulled just fine. Trying to determine if two is better than one. I have never used grease and won't after I saw one guy using it. What a mess.

Just a friendly reminder to the PullRite 5er hitch guys or soon to be PullRite owners not to use the teflon disk with the Super Glide or regular PullRite 5er hitch. It will cause a high hitching issue and the pin will not reliably lock into the jaw. But you probably knew that..right!
