The last few camping trips our refreg has been freezing most everything. Wondering for those who have had the same problem what did you do to fix it without bringing it in to a dealer? I'm not sure if the thermostat is going bad or stuck? Inside the freg there is an adjustment slide on the cooling fins but, that doesn't to do anything. Any ideas?

Thermistor
The thermistor is a thermal resistor that changes resistance depending on its temperature. It clips onto the fins inside the refrigerator and communicates temperature changes to the appropriate circuit board by the change in its resistance. Normally when a thermistor goes bad it has a very high resistance and causes over cooling.

Dometic Thermistor To test the Dometic thermistor, disconnect it from the main (lower) circuit board and place the other end (sensor end) into a glass of ice water. After a few minutes you should be able to get a resistance reading of 7,000 to 10,000 ohms between the two terminals of the connector. If the resistance isn't close to those numbers, it is bad.

Norcold Thermistor On Norcold models up to, but not including the 900 series model, the thermistor should have a reading of around 40,000 ohms between the terminals of the connector when the sensor end is place into a glass of ice water

Rob, great response! I was just about to dig out the service manuals to check that info. My diagnosis is the same as yours unless he happens to have the thing set too cold and perhaps no inside fan to move the air about.

Good stuff! It is amazing the info that is found here. Just wish I could remember "checks and fixes" found here when I need them.

Just purchase (2) large 3 ring books and print out the sections your interested in, I have over time filled 2 of them with different sections from A.C. & electrical down to the running gear.
