I'm going to try and find a used 5th wheel hitch. What parts should be included to install it? I don't want to buy just part of it then find out I have to buy the rails or somehthing else.

Going to go with a slider hitch too I think. Any recomendations?

I'm hoping to find one that is fairly easy to remove when not in use too if that helps with any recomendations.

Pullrite makes a Superglide, top of the line IMHO. Check to see if the mounting will fit your truck, also make sure you get the capture plate from the 5th wheel. Good Luck!

If you are looking for an antoslider, Pullrite is the way to go.

Almost any of the others for a manual or stationary are a good choice.

This might help:

For a used hitch I think you would expect to get everything except maybe the bed rails. These can be bought seperately as a kit. If the hitch includes the bed rails, you should still plan on a new set of bolts.

Before you pay too much for a used one. Check out some of the pricing on various models from different sources on the internet. You can compare brands and pricing see what is included, see what else might be needed. It will make you a more informed shopper. There are several brands and styles that will work for you.

I just sold my Reese slider to upgrade to a Pullrite (that I bought used). I sold the Reese with the rails as well as mounting hardware, but that only worked because the buyers had the same model year as my truck.

The Superglide I bought included superrails with the hitch. I found the mounting hardware on line, and had to buy a capture plate that would work with my kingpin.

So, that is a long way of saying you will probably need to purchase the mounting hardware for your truck, but rails should be included with the hitch.

Really need to know more about your rig...

What kind of truck do you have (model/yr)?

What size bed do you have?

What is the maximum gross weight of the trailer that you're pulling?

I've got a shortbed Dodge...and my trailer is less than 10K...

For that combination --- the 15K Superglide Hitch, Capture Plate, and Industry Standard Rail Kit was the way to go.

I bought my bed rail kit from etrailer.com
I bought my hitch & capture plate from tweetys.com

Some late model trucks have the ability to use additional bracket kits which use existing holes. My '98 did not have that option...so I had to drill 8 holes through the frame rails. If you have to do that...it's a special drill size. For the REESE rail kit... 17/32", which you might have to order.

The other option you might like to add...is a 7-pole outlet in your truck bed. That way you don't have to hang your 5th wheels trailer light connection over the tailgate. I bought mine from etrailer.com.
It takes a hole saw to drill the mounting hole in your bed.

If you elect the Superglide...you'll need a can of WD-40 for lubricating the rails.

If you have to remove your wheel well liners to get to the rails...a POM rivet kit from Harbor Freight comes in handy when you go to reinstall them.

A torque wrench is also necessary to get the nuts tightened to the correct specs.

I think I hit everything you'll need...other than standard hand tools, and measuring tapes.

I have a Reese 16k slider that I bought off ebay. It came with the rails but not the frame brackets. I did not expect them as the vehicle frames will be different. With a little shopping, I found the no drill brackets for my Dodge and had the hitch in quite quickly.I would think that you will find a used hitch with the rails but not the frame brackets.

The other option, with a Superglide, are the "custom rails" vs the in-bed rails. The hitch mounts on 2x2 rails, which have holes in the ends to mate with pins that go into the blocks that are mounted on the frame under the bed. What this means is that you can remove the hitch, and pins, and have access to 100% of your bed. There are pucks that you can put into the bed holes to plug them, or, keep the steel pieces that you drill out, add a 1" piece of dowel, and put those pieces into the holes when you remove the hitch. This custom kit will also mount over a bedliner.
